Up On Turkey Creek

What took me so long?  I vaguely recall reading a review of El Pulgarcito at KC Lunch Spots four years ago, but it wasn't until I found myself in the industrial part of Merriam on a recent chilly night that I gave it try.  So good!  Although my friendly but inept waiter was unable to offer any guidance, I came to understand that the magician in the kitchen can do no wrong.  El Pulgarcito is my new favorite spot.

Drip

Representatives of paper towel dispensers may be the world's best salespeople.  Even though the devices are broken in about half of the public men's rooms I visit, replacement dispensers continue to be sold.  They usually don't work any better than their faulty predecessors.  I'd like give the enterprising vendors of these malfunctioning products a wet and hearty handshake.

Breakaway

Official attendance at Sporting KC's season-ending playoff loss on Wednesday was 20,689.  That means that 20,688 people probably entered Livestrong Sporting Park as bigger soccer fans than me.  I escort committed fans to three or four Sporting games a year but the team has never meant much to me.  Until now.  Not since '90s-era Royals have I enjoyed a professional athletic event in Kansas City as much as Wednesday's matcch.  I'm finally able to accept the nerds in the stands and the absence of Messi on the field.  Sporting KC simply offers a superior overall experience.

Mic Check

I've dismissed occasional requests to revive this site from friends, family and strangers over the past few months.  Personal problems- don't ask!- have made public navel-gazing seem hopelessly indulgent.  Besides, I've been perfectly content antagonizing the Kansas City's jazz establishment at Plastic Sax and revealing way too much about myself at There Stands the Glass.  Yet in a moment a weakness I publicly relented.  Here goes nothing.
