No Birds Were Killed
The Bluebird Café wouldn’t cross my mind if I was an inmate on death row selecting my last meal. But if I was forced to eat every day at just one place, the restaurant at 17th and Summit would merit serious consideration. It’s so good that I wouldn’t even lose weight. Just look at those vegetables!

Was the front page of today’s Star designed by a bored third-grade summer school art class?

Don't even get me started on the Star's redesign. I never thought the Star would compete with the Johnson County Sun for bad design.

Remember when the Star was really good?

Yeah, neither do I.

that design is B-A-D.
back in my days as a writer at the star, the talk was always about how great the redesign and the "new star" would be. i've yet to see greatness.

Yurodivy, hearing the slight thud of the afternoon Star hitting the driveway after school is a fond memory for me. The Star had the day's financial news, but otherwise it was lighter than the morning KC Times. I don't know if it was "really good,"- I was just a kid- but the newspaper connected with me. Today, I'm seriously considering letting my subscription lapse. I'd like to think, Emaw and Jessi, that the Star's primary problem is the design. But it's difficult to seriously examine the content when the layout issues force you to avert your gaze in horror.
