Smells Like Beer

The musty aroma of coffee has long delighted passerby in downtown Kansas City. I've been known to linger on 8th Street just so I can bask in that scent. I've recently discovered an even better Kansas City smell. On warm days the air around Boulevard's brewery smells like fresh beer. Delicious!

I always had in mind to make a listing of the nastiest smelling areas. Crossing Heart of America Bridge is one. I also think that there can be too much of a good smell, smelling coffee 24/7 may not be so great

living in city market is great. we pick up scents of garozzo's, the vietnam cafe, winslow's BBQ (although the BBQ itself is average), and many others...

but as you leave the area, the coffee aroma takes over for a bit, then you can swing by the boulevard plant for the wonderful scents there as well...

I suspect people get used to things, MV.

The tantalizing smell of BBQ on a windy day, AZ, drives me bananas.

I'd rather have the coffee than beer smell. (I imagine beer doesn't smell too hot when you're hungover some morning.) But either one is way WAY better than driving by an A. slaughterhouse or B. pigfarm.

It's funny you mention that, Owen. At the travel expo I mention in a recent post I chatted up the gals working the Dodge City booth. I like their town, I said, but the overpowering stench from their cattle industry gets to me. "That's the smell of money," they replied.
