Flu shots are serious business for old folks. The grim faces of the elderly people lined up for injections at a Price Chopper yesterday told the story. It’s literally a life-and-death procedure for people in their eighties. We should all be so (un)lucky.

They have us sign up for flu shots at work every year, and I always wonder if it's something I should do. I mean, I'm in my mid-20s so I can't be in that bad of shape to need it. I'd be interested to see if it's bad for younger people to get a shot because maybe it prevents our bodies from learning how to defend against certain bugs. Regardless, I'm definitely not looking forward to the day when it become a dire necessity to make it through the winter.

I'm unclear on the science behind the shots, Brad. I just know that the last time I had one, about three years ago, I felt lousy for a few days. If I do it again I'll time the shot accordingly.

I've never had one. Sometimes I get sick, sometimes I don't.
