A Messy, Sloppy Status Quo
That's not bird seed! While you're gasping in horror at Prairie Village's Public Enemy Number Two, note the hole gnawed by the beast's fellow thieves that allows entry into this birdfeeder. My relatively humane trap-and-release program just isn't working. There seems to be a limitless supply of chipmunks and squirrels. I need to either surrender or escalate my efforts with more extreme measures.

I too have plenty of chips that not even a Cairn Terrier and a healthy tom cat can do little more than keep the hordes a bit thinner immediately around my home.

You can trap & release on my property if you want. We have 4 acres.

I tried the hot pepper in the bird food thing. Supposedly small mammals don't like it but birds can't taste it. It worked for a couple of months. Now I have squirrels happily munching away, wondering when the margaritas are coming. Also sprinkled it all over my flower bed that the neighbors' cats had mistaken for a litter box. That did work. Have you ever seen a cat lick a paw full of habanero pepper? Hahahahahahahahaha!

I tried the hot pepper powder in the bird seed. I peppered myself when filling the bird feeders. I have 3 squirrel-proof feeders(one is a Yankee Flipper) & 2 that the squirrels eat on.

Feral cats would be solve the problem, but after they'd turn to birds after the low-hanging fruit (rabbits and chipmunks) were eaten.
