Winners and Losers
Televised awards shows can seem innocuous. Sitting among nominees at the Pitch Music Awards last night at the Uptown Theater, however, I was struck by just how badly most musicians wanted to win. Accordingly, attendance slipped as disappointed losers left in disgust after each award was announced. (Above: The Uptown's Larry Sells gets a close look at Flee the Seen.)

The music scene is this area has always been petty. I am not surprised by your post one little bit.

well as a musician in this "scene" i must say that win or lose i was having a blast sundaynight.
i honestly didn't think there was any way in hell we were going to win. i am actually a fan of the the other bands in our group (chad rex-afterparty-in the pines- barkley martin) sorry i don't know sal????
that said if we had lost i would have stayed and kept right on having an amazing time. i was surprised that our band was even in the running.
so pendergast might be a little Petty-esque (tom petty that is) but petty we are not. if we had not won it would have been some of our friends.
we met some cool ass people (flee the scene) who were bad ass by the way... and alot of the people who didn't take awards home stayed to party down in the bar after the show.
sorry for the rambling.
it does feel great to know someone is listening though...
we got 309 votes... which is, i think, the same number of people on my girlfriends email list. just saying.
we all got free booze which makes us all winners!

If only everyone was as supportive, gracious and kind as you, Tony.
And yeah, Flee the Seen was really good Sunday.
I didn't get any free booze, but that didn't prevent me from buying my fair share of poison that night.
