Blooze Power

For a few summers in the '80s there was only one place to be on a Saturday afternoon. The deck of what's now the Riot Room hosted an intoxicated sea of lewd behavior as the Bon Ton Soul Accordion Band performed. My interest in the local blues scene has waned as the music has since been tempered and tamed. Even so, I've already attended a couple Saturday afternoon jam sessions at B.B.'s Lawnside BBQ this year. While the music is safe and predictable, it's a smile-filled, joyous event that reminds me why I love Kansas City.

Any idea where one could get a tape or LP of the Bon Ton's recordings? We used to live in KC, and loved that band. My husband got his collection of tapes stolen out of his car, and I am trying to replace the Bon Ton recordings as a BD surprise. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Cheryl: Here's a copy of the classic LP. It's $9.99.

Thanks. I did see that one, and will probably get it, but I am also looking for the one with "Camel Toe" on it. I think it was a live recording, but the name escapes me.

Search for Bon Ton Soul Accordion Band on Yahoo Groups. I've got one started and can trade two of the Bon Ton albums you mentioned. -- Frank

I'll look too! I had their Live album and LOVED it. But I had an accident and all my CD's were lost, and that one I have never seen anywhere since. I'd LOVE to get my hands on it again!

I acquired an Ion USB turntable for Christmas. The low end models cost less than $100. I'm in the process of converting my old vinyl into MP3s and CDs. For personal use only, of course... I encourage all you like-minded people to do the same.

Aloha, I have personally digitized versions of the self-titled album (from vinyl) and the album "Taint...Nothin' But a Party" (from cassette), plus "Dirt Muffin"ripped from CD; if anyone is interested in a swap please reach out: Are there ANY online resources for this severely underrated band?? Even basic information such as discography, lineup, etc. seems to be non-existent.

You'd think a member of the band or a fan would create a Facebook page...
