Hey, Good Lookin'
One of the unintended consequences of setting traps is that the wrong quarry occasionally winds up captured. Both flavors of squirrels- ground and tree- are my targets. Yet daredevil cardinals just can't resist peanut butter, even though they clearly understand that they're stepping into a trap. Opossums aren't quite as smart. But aren't they pretty?

Last night while returning home right around dusk, I had a close encounter with a racoon. He was a bold little cuss, about as big as our Jack Russell Terrier, but fatter.
He crossed the street right in front of my car. When I stopped to watch, he watched back from the base of a tree near the curb. Then he walked toward me in my car.
He cut behind my car and I got out to make sure he wasn't crawling under it to hitch a ride.
He was just sitting on the curb a few feet away at the base of another tree. He climbed up to the first fork and stared at me for a while, then scampered into the upper branches where I lost him.
I regret that I didn't get a picture, but it was too dark.

Should have let him climb up in the wheel well and take out that snake!
You have critter issues.
