Because I prefer taverns to cafes, I never feel entirely comfortable in establishments like Westport CoffeeHouse. The unspoken protocol of the coffee culture eludes me. I just don't get it. Or maybe I'm looking for something that's not there. And if that's the case, I'm relieved that I'm not missing anything.

Oh but you are missing something.
I've worked at the WCH for two different stints, once during the summer of 1998 and again, on evenings and weekends, from 1999-2001. I painted the inside of the place during the summer of '01. So, if for nothing else, go there to see the paint.
A music aficionado like yourself would appreciate the jukebox selection. And if you should get a chance to talk to one of the owners, Tom Ptacek, I think his downstairs recording studio might provide lots of fodder for conversation.
And as for the coffee culture, WCH is for the uninitiated. It's not like Broadway in that regard.
If you should go, tell the owners that Rocky sent you.

I do stop by WCH on occasion, NPH. I like the interior, save the revolting bubble gum art currently on display. I'll hit the jukebox next time. Thanks for the tips.
