Trashed

My little town recently implemented a new trash policy. I am not pleased. The need to set limits on quantities is understandable, but making paper bags mandatory for "yard waste" is not working out for me. The flimsy containers cost fifty cents each. And mine just dissolved in today's rain. Lesser citizens might reasonably consider dumping their waste on the front steps of city hall.

lesser citizens don't have trash spills in front of their houses.

How about a compost pile? Or is there an ordinance against having one? Funny, they limit & regulate yard waste, but if you decided to not mow your lawn to cut back on that waste, they'd fine you for that, too!

Yeah, and those new, automated trash cans are huge! I had to remove a shelf in the garage just to fit one in there! No wonder you see them all out in front of people's houses now ...

not in love with the new policy either, but those new cans are more than big enough to hold all of my trash and recycling.

my yard, it goes to seed. but then i rent and hire it out. so far, always in code.

PV is still alot better than other places. i'll live with it. - mike t.

You sound just like my neighbors, M.V.

I get the impression that there's a don't ask/don't tell approach to composting, RG. A visible box would be entirely out of the question.

The cans are indeed massive, Rick and Mike.

In Olathe you can trade trashcans down to 2 smaller sizes. I got medium and now they have a slim one too.
Costco sells a compost thing that looks like a sphere, I bet you can call it a garden decor.

Here it is, M.V. It looks as if it's been discontinued.

Don't you know that bigger is always better, M.V.? Trading down in size is un-American.

Do you see my picture standing next to Lenin? So I am OK. Costco has this composter (it this a word?)in every mailing, they probably still have it or a similar model.
