Judgment Day

I get paid to write about music. It's my dream. Part of the gig, however, involves my willingness to put other people down. While I'm not as tactful as most of my peers, I take no pleasure in that part of the process. I accept that criticism will occasionally come back at me. I wasn't surprised, consequently, when a friend informed me that the highest-rated radio personality in Kansas City called me out by name this morning.

I respect his impulse to defend his buddies.

He is usually very defensive about their shows. While I don't care for the type of music, they at least make the prices accessible which is a service in itself.

Was this about some band from up north? I do like Will Hoge a lot and would like to see him one day. He's the kind of southern rock I can get behind.

The band was Shinedown. This was not one of the station's budget shows. Tickets started at $45.

Will Hoge is very good indeed, BGO. And Shinedown did everything they could to make certain their fans respected him. Shinedown's actions were cool and classy.

Just when I think I have you figured out, Meesha...

I listen to Johnny Dare every morning driving to work (I was off today), but the music I just tolerate. After they pretty much destroyed that park lady after their penn valley park show, I wouldn't recommend getting on his bad side.
...I don't even have myself figured out. And I don't think I've been to a concert since I moved here 18 years ago.Not even a cheap one.

I don't know if it qualifies as "a concert," but I have a couple of extra tickets for tonight's "Pretty Things Peepshow" at the Beaumont Club. It looks like an old-fashioned burlesque deal:

    (Not safe for work.)

Meesha, Rick, BGO, Johnny Dare- call, text or comment if you'd like to go. I'll probably get there around 8:30.
